Trainings, Workshops, and Courses
Zatz & Renfrew Consulting has facilitated and taught many trainings, workshops 
and courses for colleges, organizations, and businesses.


Advocacy Course
This semester course introduces students to the role that advocacy plays 
in our professional and personal lives. Students learn to apply advocacy 
skills through role-playing, observation, reading, research, discussions, 
and interactive activities geared toward effectively advocating for issues 
of personal, community, or political interest. Students learn to think 
critically and to consider diverse opinions. Students participate in group 
discussions and complete individual and group projects. Core competencies 
include critical thinking, interpersonal communications, research, writing, 
and professional conduct. 


Advocacy Trainings
Zatz & Renfrew Consulting conducts workshops for colleges and organizations, 
teaching participants effective advocacy techniques, both within the political 
arena and on a more personal level. Workshops, presented in local communities, 
legislative venues, and colleges, focus on teaching skills that enable 
participants to more actively participate in the public policy process.


Leadership Trainings
Everyone is a leader in some way - family, community, school, civic 
organization, or workplace. Zatz & Renfrew Consulting, through leadership trainings, 
encourages people to recognize their skills, talents, and challenges in 
reaching out to, and leading, others. The trainings address the concepts 
of effective leadership, the importance of networking, the recognition and 
incorporation of diversity, and the value of mentoring and outreach.


Legislative Process Workshops
The legislative process can be very daunting for those not familiar with 
the political process. Zatz & Renfrew Consulting offers workshops that take 
the mystery out of lawmaking. Workshop curricula include information on how 
a bill becomes a law, tours of legislative venues, legislative role playing, 
meetings with lawmakers, and hands-on lobbying experiences.


Voter Education Workshops
In this ever-changing world of multi-media information dissemination, the 
need to educate voters about the importance of voting is more crucial than 
ever - the impact of each vote, the personal empowerment that results from 
exercising the right to vote, and the connection between voting and political 
policies that affect everyday life. Zatz & Renfrew Consulting developed a 
series of voter education workshops that have been conducted in many 
communities, some of which have been specifically focused on low-income 
populations (those that historically have low voter turnout). After attending 
the workshops, participants consistently report a much better understanding 
of the voting process and the importance of voting.


Youth and Substance Abuse Prevention Workshops
Zatz & Renfrew Consulting collaborated with the program, "Reaching Forward," 
to address the issue of substance abuse and youth. The program primarily focuses 
on peer discussions in schools, youth clubs, and community centers.


Harassment and Discrimination Workshops
Zatz & Renfrew Consulting educates people about the importance of accepting 
and embracing diversity in our communities. Workshops are conducted at 
schools, conferences, and local community centers.
